Oral Cancer Screening
At Keswick Dental, we perform regular oral cancer screenings which allows us to detect any potential signs of oral cancer before the disease progresses too far, resulting in a better overall outcome. During the initial new patient exam, a full mouth series of intra-oral photos are taken which helps us diagnose and monitor each patients oral health. During the screening, we look for any potential signs of oral cancer, such as discoloured tissue, lesions, lumps and abnormalities. Depending on the tissue characteristics, a biopsy may be necessary which is sent to a laboratory for further analysis. A referral to an Oral Pathologist may also be required to help diagnose and manage the abnormal tissue.
